- The logo of “EMD”, for Eidgenössisches Militärdepartement (“Federal Military Department”), is printed on the dial. EMD is a department of the Swiss federal government. It is in charge of army and civil protection. It was renamed VBS in 1979. In 1998 it became also responsible for the promotion of sport ; the actual name is DDPS (“Département fédéral de la défense, de la protection de la population et des sports” which can be translated by “Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport”)
